Rising to Run 2027 Application 

Please note: this training is for women and gender-expansive people who have run for elected office and did not win. Men are not eligible and should not apply.

Towards the end of the application, we will ask whether you have done a debrief of your past campaign. A debrief is not required to apply. If you are accepted, you will need to have completed a debrief before the training begins. We will have virtual sessions to help you do your campaign debrief ahead of the training (dates below). If you have not done one yet, you can use this Campaign Debrief Guide. It's fine to do the debrief on your own, though we recommend getting your campaign team's input as well.

General Instructions and Registration Fees

  • For in-person trainings, there is a $150 registration fee if accepted. Your registration fee covers food and all program materials. Please complete the scholarship section of the application if you feel that would be a barrier to your participation.
  • Declared candidates are permitted to apply, but must pay the market rate fee of $250 to register once accepted. No scholarships of any kind will be available. If you declare after applying, you will be required to reimburse NAL for any discounts or scholarships you received.
  • If you start your application and do not complete it, please press "SAVE AND CONTINUE LATER" at the bottom of the page, and you will receive an email from programs@newamericanleaders.org with a link to your incomplete application to finish at a later time/day.
  • When you complete your application, please press the "SUBMIT APPLICATION" button at the bottom of the last page.
  • You should immediately receive an email acknowledging the submission of your application.

Training Dates and Deadlines

Rising to Run Training (Phoenix, Arizona). April 9-11, 2027

  • Virtual Information Session: January 14 from 8-9pm ET/5-6pm PT. RSVP link here.
  • Priority Deadline to Apply: January 19, 2027
  • Final Deadline to Apply: February 8, 2027

For participants, there will be the following virtual events:

  • Wednesday, March 3 from 8-9pm ET/5-6 PT: Mandatory Introductory Virtual Session
  • Between March 8-19 sign up for a 30 minute one on one with NAL's program lead, Anne Flomenhaft
  • Wednesday, March 23 from 8-9pm ET/5-6 PT: Optional Campaign Debrief Office Hours

This application is voluntary. You can stop filling out this application at any time if you do not wish to complete the application.

We will process your anonymized data to inform decisions about our programs. We will also use your data for research purposes in collaboration with academics at the University of Reading and the University of Durham. The goal of these research projects is to gain a deeper understanding of our programs and identify areas for improvement. If you do not consent, you will still be able to submit an application.
